The Post Office at 110 Stone St, South is #22 on the Town of Gananoque’s self guided tour. Its description there reads:
“Gananoque’s first Post Office building was erected in 1889. It remained at this location until 1914 when a new facility was built (since demolished). It housed law offices (1975-2014) and is now an apartment building. Note the faces over the door.” (Copies of the tour are available at the Gananoque and 1000 Island Visitor Centre, 10 King East.)
Some additional interesting facts about the Post Office:
– The main floor apartment “The Old Post Office” is available as tourist accommodation.
– Another federal building with similar architecture built 6 years before the Post Office is now used as the Gananoque Boat Lines Office.
